Designing Learning Experiences (2 Days)

Dates TBD by Participants After Registering (8:30 – 3:00)

Brochure

Quality instruction is essential as we continue to transform our education systems. Designing learning experiences that incorporate content knowledge, complex reasoning, and habits of mind require teachers and learning facilitators to make important and informed decisions about the most appropriate instructional strategies to use with certain types of knowledge.

At this summit teachers, learning facilitators & administrators will collaborate to design learning experiences. Participants will provide each other with feedback and ideas for how to design interdisciplinary learning experiences that include the explicit teaching of complex reasoning and habits of mind. Exemplar learning experiences will be reviewed and analyzed and participants will finish with lessons they can use the next day.

Participants will consider different types of learning opportunities (Seminars, Tutorials, Labs, Mentorships) and how they tie to learning goals that are “best learned” using different approaches.

Outcomes — Participants will:

•increase their understanding of planning with the three components: Content Knowledge, Complex Reasoning, & Habits of Mind.
•develop an interdisciplinary, standards-based approach to designing learning experiences.
•better understand how to select the most appropriate instructional strategies.
•access a bank of exemplary learning experiences.
•explore different types of learning opportunities (Seminars, Tutorials, Labs, & Mentorships).
•leave with an action plan they can use in their classrooms, and at the building/district level.
•share learnings, gain insights, network with others, and create action steps that will support efforts to transform their systems.

Daily Online Schedule: 8:30 – 3:00

13+ Contact hours will be provided.
